With the unprecedented soar in the 125 cc scooters market - about half of the top ten most selling two-wheelers in 2019-20 were 125 cc scooters - Hero has re-entered the fray with a new offering, the Maestro Edge 125.

The Edge is available at a starting price of Rs 74,028 (ex-showroom, New Delhi) for the base variant and goes all the way up to Rs 87,527 (ex-showroom, New Delhi) for the top variant. It is available in seven variants and a vast pallet of 14 colours.

The scooter is powered by a 124.6cc Bs6 compliant, a single-cylinder air-cooled motor capable of producing a power of 9 Bhp at 7,000 rpm and a peak torque of 10.4 Nm at 5,500 rpm. It comes with front and rear drum brakes for the base variant with a combined braking system and front disc and rear drum with an integrated braking system for the top variant.

The Maestro Edge 125 is the first Scooter with a Fuel-injection technology featured in India. It gets a fuel tank capacity of 5 litres with a mileage of 45 kmpl and can travel up to 225 km on a full tank. One of the best features is the external fuel cap on this scooter which makes fueling easier. It also gets front telescopic forks and a mono-shock at the rear.

Out in the front, it gets a completely redesigned headlamp with a full LED unit, an LED tail lamp, and a signature LED in the front apron. In addition, the old instrument cluster has given way to a Bluetooth-equipped fully-digital instrument cluster.

The instrument cluster comes loaded with features that read out turn by turn navigation when connected to a phone, missed calls alert, incoming call alert, real-time mileage, low fuel warning and a Geo-fencing technology.

With the Edge being in the market for over a year, it looks like it has fallen behind on the expectations that Hero initially had for it during its launch. TVS NTorq, undoubtedly, remains the king in the market considering sales figures and pricing.
